Flights passing through and leaving Trinidad and Tobago have been affected over the past few days due to a staff shortage at Air Traffic Control on the island.
Airlines including LIAT and Caribbean Airlines were among those affected as a result of the difficulties being experienced but TravelSpan was accommodated, a Government Information Agency release said.
Zulficar Mohamed, Interim Director of the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority highlighting the problem recently told GINA that the situation has improved slightly but noted that the delays will continue.
Mohamed said flights out of Trinidad and Tobago were operating at or below 8,500 feet which was not economical. This meant that the aircraft had to go through Venezuela.
