A Linden man who allegedly had over 1000 grammes of ganja concealed in his haversack while on a minibus to Georgetown was yesterday remanded to prison by Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton.
Sherwin Duncan, 31, of 468 Wismar, Linden pleaded not guilty to possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that on October 26 at the Soesdyke-Linden Highway, he had 1,399 grammmes of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking. According to the facts of the case, Duncan was a passenger in a Linden minibus which was headed to Georgetown. The police who were out on patrol stopped the bus and carried out a search and reportedly discovered the drugs in Duncan’s haversack.
Police prosecutor Shellon Daniels objected to bail.
Duncan’s case was transferred to the Providence Magistrate’s Court for November 1.
