Dear Editor,
On September 12, 2007 I wrote a letter to your letter column complaining about the incorrect online address for the Guyana Embassy in Beijing, captioned – “E-mail address for Guyana embassy in Beijing incorrect”
On September 13, 2007 I received an e-mail from the confidential secretary of Stabroek News with addresses forwarded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for contacting the Guyana ambassador in Beijing. I subsequently made contact with our ambassador Mr Pollydore on October 12, 2007.
Many times we complain about matters affecting our well-being and seek help, when help is directed our way and things are again smooth with us we take it for granted, feel it was an obligation or never realize that we should in some way express our gratitude.
I humbly take this opportunity to apologise for the extended period that lapsed in responding to the results of this complaint. I must confess this was beyond my control due to unforeseen circumstances. Regardless, I would be rather late than never.
I extend my sincere thanks to the concerned and kind staff of Stabroek News, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Guyana, Beijing Embassy office. I was fortunate to meet the staff in Beijing and wish them well. I extend my special thanks to Ambassador Mr Cecil Pollydore, a very kind individual who gave our group a truly Guyanese welcome. I was very impressed by his command of the Chinese language.
Yours faithfully,
Ashton Simon
