Darren Allen destroyed a strong field and put a stop to the winning streak of Alonzo Greaves when he captured the feature event of the Fern leaf-sponsored 11-race card yesterday at the National Park.
Allen won the schoolboys and novices’ 35-lap event in a time of one hour, 25 minutes with Greaves settling for third position. Greaves, however, won seven of the eight prime prizes that were up for grabs with Marlon Williams, who placed second taking the other.
John Charles was fourth.
In the juveniles’ 10-lap event, Christopher Holder triumphed in a time of 25:07s ahead of Enzo Matthews and Chris Persaud with Matthews claiming both prime prizes.
The veterans’ Over-45 event was won by Aubrey Springer from John Lewis and Anthony Faria, while Kennard Lovell won the veterans’ Under-45 event from Linden Blackman and Virgil Jones. Blackmon won the lone prime prize.
Richard Charles not only won the Upright five-lap event, he also took the lone prime prize on his way to winning the event in a time of 12:54s.
Second place went to Andre Petty with Jamal Bentley third.
In the BMX 12-14 year-old category Neil Reece triumphed ahead of Housami Van Lewin. Reece also took the lone prime prize.
In the BMX boys’ 6-9 years-old event Raymond Perry won from Jude Lewis and Dominic Helwig while Chrystal Blackman was the winner of the BMX girls’ 6-12 year-old event.
In other results Anthony Freeman won the BMX boys’ 9-12 year-old category from Orlando King and Tariq Baksh while Kunta Mackenzie won the BMX boys’ 12-14 year-old three lap event from Ryan Bhagwandin and Kevin Edwards.
Each participant received a packet of Fernleaf milk.
