Taurus Dominoes Club, with 82 games romped to victory in the final of the seventh annual Tony Kissoon Memorial dominoes competition held recently at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC). In second place was Bottom End with 71 games while Trappers ended in the cellar with 66 games.
Taurus received $100,000 for winning the tournament while their skipper Trevor Smith was adjudged the most outstanding male player in the tournament.
Bottom End came up with the runners-up prize of $60,000 while Trappers ended with $30,000 and fourth-placed team Mean Machine earned $15,000 for their efforts.
There were three MVPs in Linden Bowman of Taurus who scored 16 games in the final, D. Mc Lean of Bottom End with 17 games and D. Singh of Trappers with 16 games while Sandra Denny was voted the best female player of the tournament.
Some 51 teams from Georgetown, West Demerara and East Coast Demerara participated in the tournament which was played on a knock-out basis.
The tournament was jointly sponsored by Mrs. Arlene Kissoon, widow of the late Tony Kissoon and Vaughn Phillips of DC Cabs, Washington, Maryland and organized by Wendell Mc Pherson.
Meanwhile Mc Pherson, on behalf of Mrs. Kissoon on Saturday donated a quantity of school books, bags and other items to the occupants of Joshua House.
