Nicholas Ali and Anissa Rodrigues ran out winners of the Lower school boys and girls’ singles titles, as the Queen’s College Lower & Upper School singles badminton tournament, which was sponsored by DeSinco’s Trading ended on Tuesday at the Queen’s College auditorium.
Ali, who gained three silver medals at this year’s Junior Caribbean Badminton Championships held in Suriname, defeated Avian Rodrigues, with whom he reached the boys’ U-15 doubles final at the CAREBACO c/ships 21-16, 21-4 in the final of the Lower School boys’ singles competition with Kwame Vieira defeating Stefan Greaves 21-18, 21-11 to claim the third position.
In the Lower School girls’ singles final, Rodrigues defeated Anara Khan 21-6, 21-13. Third place went to Crystal Sharma.
In the Upper School boys’ final, Easa Sanichara defeated Roger Peroune 21-13, 21-11.
Third place went to Jamal Shamshudeen.
The presentation of Trophies will be made during the School’s Assembly next Friday.
Meanwhile, president of the Guyana Badminton Association, Gokarn Ramdhani, said yesterday that the association will hold its annual general meeting during the second week of December.
Rmadhani said the date and venue are yet to be decided.
