The Mayor’s Cup Football tournament has a twist this year and that twist will mean four less players on the field. The competition has been changed to a seven-a-side knock out feature for wards and villages by the organizing committee.
The organizing committee announced the new format in a press release but did not forward a reason for the change this year. The tournament will kick off on November 13 with Albouystown playing Ann’s Grove in the first game. So far 32 teams are slotted to compete for the 200,000-dollar first prize and 100,000-dollar second prize.
The final is set for December 8. This year’s tournament will mark the 73rd birth anniversary of City Mayor Hamilton Green who is the patron of the yearly feature which is organized by Lennox Arthur.
