The man who allegedly cut off the head of another for no apparent reason last week appeared on Tuesday in the Blairmont Magistrate’s Court charged with murder.
A release from the police said that Colin Bentick, 35, of Seafield Village, West Coast Berbice, appeared before Magistrate Geeta Chandan and was remanded to prison until November 22.
Bentick is accused of murdering Elton Shepherd at Seafield, Berbice on October 31. Reports are that Bentick, who some said is of unsound mind, launched an attack on Shepherd with a cutlass moments after asking for his girl. Shepherd was at the time having lunch underneath a house with friends when he was attacked.
He ran for his life but fell in the process and as he lay on the ground Bentick allegedly dealt him several chops even as he begged for his life. Bentick, according to reports, then sliced off the man’s head.
