Dear Editor,
I really think all those hire cars/minibus drivers protesting in Berbice are having a hard time. It is the same thing in Georgetown and elsewhere. How could the government and the police expect poor people to pay all these increased fines? It is too much strain. Listen to the pleas of Mr Semwas and Mr Seetaram (SN, Nov. 6). These hardworking men now have to find extra money to pay higher fines instead of just minding the family and paying off their loans.
But we know the government never has compassion for people. So please let me share some advice for the drivers of minibuses and hire cars.
It is really hard, we know, but you might really have to give it a try
