Dear Editor,
No doubt there are a number of residents of Linden, who care and think a lot about the welfare of the community. In a gathering quite recently, ideas ran wild on little things that can be done to enhance the town.
Two areas of interest were the Old Cenotaph in the Cuffy Square and the Mackenzie Sports Club wall (fence) aback the swimming pool.
Proposals:
A. That the old condemned cenotaph which stands, ragged but firm with a solid base, should not be completely demolished but instead be redesigned/converted into either some symbolic representation of the community or simply some sort of ornamental structure.
The Mayor & Town Council can involve the community to make suggestions/proposals; then mount a competition involving Linden artists/craftsmen both local and abroad for best design.
B. That large expanse of wall (fence), at the back of the Mackenzie Sports Club pavilion facing the swimming pool should not remain so flat and empty, but should feature some sort of mural representing sports; maybe prominent/outstanding athlete (s), past and present who have done the community proud, or some other choice that the entire community can identify with (This mural can be changed from time to time if needs be). This undertaking can incorporate one or more sponsors who should be a proud part of this project.
Yours faithfully,
Frank Fyffe
