Manager of Guyana’s Lennox Allen, Carwyn Holland feels that his boxer has finally hit the big time.
Holland last night told Stabroek Sport that Allen will be on the `Showtime in Paradise’ boxing card to be held at the Beausejour Stadium in St Lucia on Friday night with Allen, Holland and the rest of the entourage leaving on Wednesday for St Lucia.
Holland said Allen will oppose Jairo Jesus Siris, a Colombian in a middleweight bout.
“This is a big break for Allen,” Holland said yesterday pointing out that this opportunity was direct result of the Spanish Invasion boxing card held in Guyana recently which became the first boxing card to be televised by the Caribbean Media Corporation.
‘The Showtime in Paradise’ card which is being organized by Dan Goossen, is the first professional card to be staged in St Lucia and will be televised live to the American television network Showtime.
Holland said Allen is expected to sign the contract today.
Holland and Allen are expected to be accompanied to St. Lucia by boxing coach Seibert Blake and Keith Bazilio.
Among the fighters on the card will be Joey Abell, American 2004 Olympic gold medalist, Andre Ward who will face Roger Cantrell and Hector `Macho’ Camacho jnr.
