I would like to commend the Guyana Police Force and the Police Commissioner for their efforts in trying to curb crime in Guyana.
Despite the many challenges facing the Police Force, it is evident that some noteworthy attempts are being made to locate and prosecute lawbreakers.
I think it was commendable that the Police Force was able to quickly apprehend and bring before the Courts, the alleged rapist[s] of nine-year-old Sade Stoby.
My condolences go out to her family during their time of grief.
It is disturbing that children in Guyana have apparently become the latest targets of criminals and sexual predators.
I urge parents to warn their children about the dangers of talking to, or accepting any gift from strangers. Further, I wish that the education system would be so tailored to allow teachers to have classroom talks to educate children about the dangers of falling prey to sexual predators and how and when to complain to a teacher, parent or any adult when they feel threatened or when someone is trying to touch them inappropriately.
On another front, it was with interest that I read in the Stabroek News of the mysterious disappearance of an aircraft, which the Police suspect may have been linked to narco-trafficking. There was a flood of articles in the press about it but no outcome in the Courts. Do the Police intend to prosecute anyone in relation to this matter?
