A 24-year-old minibus conductor, who allegedly raped a four-year-old girl, appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday and was refused bail.
Raymond Anthony Rodrigues of 112 South Sophia was not required to plead to the charge of carnally knowing a girl under the age of 15 and Magistrate Oneidge Waldron-Allicock remanded him to prison.
Rodrigues allegedly committed the offence on October 21.
Attorney-at-law Peter Hugh said his client had no previous convictions and was the breadwinner of his family. However, Police Prosecutor Hugh Winter who opposed bail, informed the court that Rodrigues had several matters before the court.
The matter continues next Wednesday.
