Darren Allen won Saturday’s Ride for Life with Christ and Prevent AIDS 50-mile cycle road race from Chateau Margot on the East Coast of Demerara to Mahaicony old road and back.
The race was organized by the Life Spring Ministries of Chateau Margot.
Allen, who won the Fernleaf 35-mile road race around the inner circuit of the National Park two Saturdays ago, made a break from the pack at Bee Hive and kept increasing the lead before crossing the finishing line unchallenged.
Second place went to Chris Persaud Jnr. with Alonzo Greaves third.
Marlon Williams, Warren McKay and Junior Niles, took the next three places.
Allen, Greaves and McKay secured two prime point prizes each while one apiece went to Robin Persaud and Niles.
Chris Persaud was also the first junior to cross the finishing line with Geron Williams second and Chris Holder third while Linden Blackman was first among the veterans with Ian Jackson second and Virgil Jones, third.
Jamaal Abdool placed first in the Upright and Mountain Bike categories with Richard Charles securing second place and Shawn Frank third.
