A boxing coach accused of raping a 20-year-old woman appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday and was remanded to prison.
George Oprecht called ‘Canchie’ was not required to plead to the indictable charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Oneidge Waldron-Allicock.
He allegedly committed the offence at Independence Boulevard on Sunday.
Oprecht, who was unrepresented, asked for reasonable bail. He also informed the court that he once trained former boxing champion Andrew Six Head’ Lewis.
The case continues on December 3.
