Over the last week police have made a further 1,648 cases against defaulting motorists as zero tolerance enforcement of traffic laws continues across the country.
Police in a press statement said that speeding was the most prevalent offence with some 220 cases made. Additionally 150 cases were made against motorists for overloaded minibuses and 124 for obstruction.
A total of 201 cases were made for unlighted motor vehicles and unlighted bicycles and 62 motorists will be charged for failure to confirm to traffic signs.
The police traffic campaign is aimed at improving road safety on the country’s roads.
