Dear Editor,
The businessman accused of indecently assaulting the school children has been remanded to prison. I will refrain from commenting on the merits or demerits of the matter, but what I will ask though is why the protest actions are allowed to continue around the man’s business premises? There are employees in there who have nothing to do with the accusations. They have to go to work because they too have their own responsibilities to take care of. Must those people be forced to go about their lawful business(their job) in a climate of fear? Aren’t they entitled to protection by those charged with “Service and Protection”?
I noticed a photograph in the Kaieteur News in which there were children supposedly from the affected school, holding placards in front of the business place. Is that lawful? Or do the police have to get instructions before they can stop it? I am told that some of the adults were openly using inappropriate language in the presence and hearing of the children! If that is true, then someone needs to be concerned about what’s happening out there. I am not defending anything here, the matters will be ventilated in the court , but let the people who work there be allowed to feed their family
Yours faithfully,
