Today all roads will lead to the Guyana Cricket Club (GCC) ground for what is expected to be a pulsating, sizzling concert, aptly called the Inferno Concert.
Well the promoters have done all in their power to create the hype for the concert and the word out on the streets is that this mega-entertainment event will be “the hottest concert of the year.”
Reports are that tickets are going like hot cakes and many of the hard-core entertainment fans are still out to get those free promotional tickets.
Over the last few weeks, Wildfire Productions – which will be celebrating its first anniversary next month, has been engaging in a number of promotional activities at city stores and on radio and television programmes.
The most exciting promotion stunt is the ‘Sing like the Inferno Concert Stars’ competition, in which you have to try to sing like one of the four international artistes scheduled to perform tonight. Whoever comes closest wins a free ticket for tonight’s show.
For the last few Saturdays those brave ‘wanna be’ singers were heard confidently belting out the tunes of an artiste of their choice.
Tonight’s concert will have a mixture of hip hop, reggae and R&B from the international artistes, a mixture that is new to the entertainment stage.
The hot and upcoming female sisters Brick & Lace, known for their tunes Never Never, and Love is Wicked; Munga Honourable, famous for Bad from mi born and Flipping Rhymes; Mims, known for his This is why I’m hot; and last but not least the ever popular Baby Cham with his The Real Ghetto Story will be on stage. This combination of flavours has not been previously explored in a single show.
Local singers Malo, Fojo, Typheon and Gailiani who are being managed by Wildfire Productions will also be putting in appearances at the concert.
From noon today at a private ‘all-white affair’ sponsors, members of the business community, government officials and the media will get an opportunity to mingle with the artistes at a prelude to the show to be held on the Beepats’ lawn in Bel Air. This will be complemented with a live one hour television and radio broadcast where the artistes will be interviewed in an effort to build momentum for the concert.
Also from around 2.24 to 3.15 today the artistes will be at the ‘Sing like the Inferno Concert Stars’ competition in the City Mall where they will be performing the role of judges and also interact with fans.
There is more at stake today because those who impress the artistes will win themselves VIP passes to the show.
Tickets can be bought at a cost of $2,700 from Upper Level Barber Shop, Giftland Office Max, all JR Burger outlets, Matt’s Record Bar, The Edge Electronics, Medicare outlets, Beepats, Nigel’s Supermarket, Johnny P, the City Mall and White Castle Fish Shop. At the gate tickets cost $3000.
The local artists are expected to be on stage around 8.30 pm and the international singers around 10. So the promoters have done all in their powers in an effort to put on a show that maybe the talk of the town for weeks; they only now have to keep their fingers crossed and hope that the sky does not open up and release rain.
