Defending champion Ransford Goodluck took an assailable lead at the end of day two of the National Rifle Shooting championships shooting two possibles in the process yesterday at the Timehri Rifle ranges.
He leads the over aggregate with 219 points and 29 V-bulls going into the final day today with his nearest rival being Ryan Sampson who is nine points behind on 210 with 17 V-bulls.
The day saw Goodluck shooting a possible 50 points with 4 V-bulls at 300 yards range then returned to tally 35 points with 4 V-bulls at 600 yards.
Sampson and Mahendra Persaud both recorded 48 points with 3 V-bulls at 300 yards but Persaud dropped just one point at 600 yards with 3 V-bulls, while Sampson dropped two with one V-bull.
Persaud moved up to third place in the overall tally with 209 points and 18 V-bulls followed by Claude Duguid who dropped to fourth place with 208 points with 13 V-bulls, Dane Blair is on 207 with 20 V-bulls for fifth place while Richard Fields and Dylan Fields are both on 206 points with Richard hitting 20 V-bulls, while his son had 15 V-bulls.
In the ‘O’ class Major Terry Stewart is in the lead with 202 points and 12 V-bulls, followed by Charles Deane with 190 with 7 V-bulls and Colin Loncke third with 187 points with 7 V-bulls.
The shooters will contest at 500, 600 and 1000 yards in today’s final day starting at 11:00 hours.
