Eight pulsating games will bring the Banks DIH Thirst Park ground alive this evening when the seven-a-side football competition in honour of Georgetown Mayor Hamilton Green’s 73rd birthday kicks off. The first game in the tournament that will feature wards and villages will see Wales banging heads with Ann’s Grove at 18:00 h. Also to be in action are Grove who will battle Mahaica;, Beterverwagting who plays Den Amstel; Pouderoyen who plays NE La Penitence; Lodge and Stewartville; Mocha clashing with Uitvlugt; Kingston versus Laing Avenue while the marquee game of the night will see Campbellville battling Sophia. Troy ‘Bugsy’ Prescod will lead the charge of the C/Ville side against a strong Sophia line up. At stake in the competition is a 200,000 dollar cash prize for the winner while the second placed team will take home 100,000 dollars. All games will be played at the Thirst Park venue with the first whistle being blown at 18:00 h nightly. The tournament continues on Tuesday evening and is organized by Lennox Arthur.
