Dear Editor,
I refer to Mr Tajpaul Gainda’s letter captioned ‘Two of these were wanted men.’
I have cause for concern when citizens like Mr Gainda attempt to play the ostrich, and hide their heads in the sand, as regards the issue of the drug trade. Maybe he hopes the drug lords will simply go away. In the real world it just doesn’t work that way.
The last sentence of his letter was either designed for amusement, or it shows his total inadequacy to deal with reality. The Escobars of the world did not “run out of business” because “enough small ‘fishes’ were caught.” They were caught when law enforcement officials harnessed all available resources and resolved to fight the narco-trade.
Yours faithfully,
Lennox Estwick
