Renaissance Under-17 footballers saved their best for last when they hammered Santos 4-0 at the Tucville ground as the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) De Sinco tournament ended with four matches at two venues on Saturday.
It was the only match won by Renaissance in the tournament and they were spearheaded to victory by a helmet-trick from Mark Canterbury who scored in the third, fourth, 14th and 23rd minutes.
In the other match billed for the same venue Thomas United gained a walkover from Pele.
And, over at the Camptown ground, the unbeaten Beacon with the tournament already won, preserved their record with a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Western Tigers whose striker Manasseh Primo had sent them into the lead after only 13 seconds.
But Beacon responded like true champions to first equalize through Godfrey Powers in the 25th minute before gaining the game winner when Noel Punch delivered the knock out punch in the 59th minute.
In the second game at the venue Fruta Conquerors made light of camptown’s home advantage to brush aside the hosts 2-0 with Daniel De Cruz scoring in the fifth minute and Earl McKay 10 minutes later.
Beacon ended on 27 points with GFC occupying the runner-up spot on 20 points. Alpha United was third with 19 points and Western Tigers fourth on 16 points.
The presentation of prizes will be done at a date to be announced.
