Khemraj Chanderpaul, father of Guyana, West Indies and Durham middle order batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul, struck a whirlwind 55 ball 100 on Sunday to guide his team Ghandi Youth Organization (GYO) to a mammoth 210 runs victory in their Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) Over-40 cricket match against Everest Cricket Club at the GYO ground.
Chanderpaul batting at number three, blazed his way to 103, the second century of the competition, and with a worthy contribution from Mohammed Najab, 79, and P. Shivraj, 24, saw their team reach 301 all out from 29.4 overs. Bowling for Everest, L. Chowargir took 4-43 with Rahaman 2-51 and Feroze Khan 2-65 lending support.
Everest in reply were bowled out for 91 with Chowargir returning with the bat to top the scoring with 17. Carlos Reid took 5-23 and P. Shivraj 3-18. K. Ahmad also took 1-6 bowling for GYO.
