A 28-year-old woman, who allegedly stabbed her 23-year-old boyfriend to death early Sunday morning, appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday on a charge of murder.
Erica Fredericks of Lot 35 First Street, Alexander Village was remanded to prison by Magistrate Oneidge Waldron-Allicock after being told that she was not required to plead to the capital offence.
The mother of one is accused of murdering Keon Adolphus on Sunday during a fight over her returning home late from the Inferno Concert.
Reports are that around 5 am, they had an argument over Fredericks returning home too late from the concert. According to the police facts, Adolphus started to beat Fredericks with his fists and she in turn picked up a knife and stabbed him in the left-side chest.
Fredericks then rushed Adolphus to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. She was immediately taken into custody by ranks at the hospital’s police outpost.
Fredericks, who was dressed in a red top and khaki pants, seemed distant when she first arrived in court, but her eyes were puffy as if she had been crying.
When the matter was called, she stood expressionless in the dock, but as the proceedings were coming to an end tears rolled down her face.
She was unrepresented and said nothing in her defence to the court. As she left the dock, she was seen drying her tears.
Meanwhile, Police Pro-secutor Sherwin Matthews indicated to the court that the file was to be sent to the Director of Public Pro-secutions (DPP) for further advice.
The matter was adjourned to December 18.
