I have been following the news on child abuse in Guyana. This is a universal tragedy and it is condoned by society. Hypocrisy is the order of the day. I have lived in different parts of the world and I see the same abuses and in the majority of these traumas the law is insignificant. Children are used as sex slaves in India and over two million children are involved in child labour, even under the noses of the law in Delhi.
The law plays a most important part in this tragedy, it does not function for the poor. In Guyana like many other societies the legal system stinks. Here in Orlando, several top officials were charged with child abuse, they are paraded before the cameras and their stories splashed in the media. The same needs to be done in little Guyana and you will be surprised to know the individuals who are into sexual perversion with minors. Until the law assumes a firm position moral values will continue to move downwards.
