Armed bandits yesterday afternoon attacked and robbed an Eccles, East Bank Demerara man of $500,000 and also hijacked his car which was later found abandoned on the Mocha Arcadia Public Road.
Police in a statement said that around 3 pm yesterday Mohamed Bacchus, 45, of Eccles was attacked by three men, two of whom were armed with firearms, and robbed of his motor vehicle and $500,000.
According to the police statement, investigations revealed that Bacchus and an employee, Suehit Jagroop, 23, of the same address, were in his motor vehicle about to enter his premises when they were confronted by the three men who came up in a blue AT 192 Toyota Carina car.
They were held at gunpoint and ordered out of the vehicle by the men who took away a cell phone from Jagroop, and then drove away in their vehicle and Bacchus’s, which contained the money.
Bacchus’s motor vehicle was later found intact along the Mocha Public Road, EBD, the police statement said adding that investigations are continuing.
