Time-worn though the Bard’s question may be, it nevertheless remains a reasonable one. Somehow, between signing autographs, smiling for photo ops and giving on air shout outs, the headliners of last week’s Inferno Concert managed to spare a few minutes to answer it.

Mims is Shawn Mims, a New York-based rapper, whose parents have roots in Jamaica. And the title of his debut, Music Is My Saviour, is more than a none-too-subtle acronym. Although his smash hit This is why I’m Hot reads like textbook hip-hop braggadocio (This is why I’m hot: I don’t gotta rap/I can sell a mil saying nothing on the track/I represent New York, I got it on my back/Niggas say that we lost it, so I’m gonna bring it back), talking with Mims will disabuse you of the idea that he is just another walking clich
