Dear Editor,
I have read with utter dismay your editorial for Sunday, November 25, 2007, entitled `Double Standards’.
Am I to understand that the minister who struck a man and discharged his gun in public is still walking the streets of Guyana, as if he has done no harm?
If this is so, this is an incredible insult to justice, and to the people of Guyana. What signal are we sending to the youths in a society where crime is committed in such an open way, and no one is immediately called on to account for their behaviour?
The minister should have been arrested and charged by the police for disorderly behaviour.
I am wondering if it were a man from Buxton, how the police would have handled the case.
Yours faithfully,
Pastor Kwesi Oginga
