Alonzo Greaves continued his winning ways when he won the eighth annual Diamond Mineral Water-sponsored 50-mile cycle road race on Sunday on the West Bank of Demerara.
Second was Marlon `Fishy’ Williams with John Charles third. Robin Persaud, Junior Niles and Warren Mc Kay occupied the next three places.
The event, which commenced outside the Wales Police Sation, proceeded to Bushy Park, East Bank Essequibo before ending at the Demerara Harbour Bridge.
Greaves, Williams, Charles and Persaud each captured two of the eight prime point prizes.
Christopher Holder carted off the junior category beating Scott Savoury and Enzo Matthews into second and third places respectively while Kennard Lovell, Linden Blackman and Esau Oselmo took the top three places in the veterans’ event.
Dexter Wilson was the winner of the upright category with Andre Petty and Shawn Frank second and third respectively.
Demerara Distillers Limited’s marketing assistant Alana Johnson was on hand to assist in the presentation of prizes at the event, which was organized by national cycling coach Hassan Mohammed (MS) and was run off by Joseph Britton.
