Guyanese lawyer Jenelle Archer, who is currently practicing in the British Virgin Islands (BVI), was recently admitted to the bar in Trinidad and Tobago.
The former President’s College student graduated from the Hugh Wooding Law School in October 2006, securing nine Grade As out of the 11 courses offered over the two-year programme, making her one of few Guyanese students to have accomplished such a feat. Patricia Bacchus was the other Guyanese student with a similar achievement record that year.
Attorney-at-law Sohan Jaikaran Poonai accomplished same this year.
Archer was awarded the Cameron & Shepherd Book Prize for the most outstanding performance by a Guyanese student at Hugh Wooding in the area of Civil Practice & Procedure in 2006.
After her first year at Hugh Wooding, Archer completed her legal internship in the Commonwealth of Dominica at the Attorney General Chambers before moving onto to the Director of Public Prosecutor’s Chambers. She was recruited by the renowned law firm of Harney Westwood & Riegels in the BVI where she is attached as an Associate Attorney in the Corporate & Commercial Department.
Archer is the younger daughter of Julian and Andrea Archer of North Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
