Two new GSM Cell sites have been established by the Guyana Telephone & Telegraph (GT&T) at central Linden and Canal Number One enabling cellular users in those areas to experience improved mobile signals.
A release from the company said that the site in Mani Street, Linden, McKenzie was commissioned on November 21 and the feedback the company has received so far has been positive with similar sentiments being expressed by residents of Canals No. 1 and 2 after the site was commissioned on November 29. According to the release the cell towers are the latest in a series of sites that have been erected and commissioned with the one at Linden being the second of such erected by the company in the mining town which is poised to see further mobile development through the positioning of two other sites at Wismar and at three locations along the Soesdyke/Linden Highway.
The release said that the new Linden facility is part of the continuing roll-out plan for seamless and quality mobile coverage along the southern corridor from Georgetown to the mining community even as work continues to see the turn up of service at Mahdia where a 400-ft tower is currently being erected and which should be commissioned within weeks. Also, the company said within the coming weeks several sites on the eastern corridor (Georgetown-Moleson Creek) have been targeted for turn up as GT&T continues its mobile development.
