President Bharrat Jagdeo has not totally ruled out the possibility of reshuffling the cabinet, but was reluctant to confirm this.
Yesterday during a brief chat with the media, the head of state was questioned on reports that there would be a reshuffle, some 16 months after the August 2006 national and regional elections.
“There is always a possibility and it is an option available to the President but I am not prepared to confirm this,” he said.
There had been rumours that former information minister Moses Nagamootoo was to be added to the cabinet as part of the reshuffle.
Quizzed about this, Jagdeo said, “We had disagreements but he has never come out against the PPP and neither has he joined with any other group to oppose the PPP and will always be a valuable member,” he added.
Pressed by reporters for a confirmation or denial of the possible ministerial position for Nagamootoo, Jagdeo said, “I am unprepared to discuss any cabinet reshuffle.”
