A newly opened Business Clinic aims to provide a service to entrepreneurs, business executives and corporate enterprises that will allow them to assess their viability.
According to a press release, the Lot 13 McDoom Public Road Clinic says it stands firmly behind its mission “To contribute to the development and growth of the Guyanese economy by stimulating, promoting and supporting the entrepreneurial spirit, growth of businesses and organisational restructuring through training, capacity building, advocacy and strategic partnerships.”
It is being headed by Murray Greenidge, its chief executive officer.
The release said its Training Division will deliver in the areas of personal and professional development as well as competency based approaches to training. An Administrative Support Division will provide stationery, typing, photocopying, desktop publishing and complementary services to businesses who demand high quality service and products at a low cost.
The release said the Clinic will also host a capacity building programme targeted at persons who are disenfranchised or marginalized because of low levels of literacy, unemployment, gender biases, because they are single parents or high school drop-outs.
Through its Community and Entrepreneurial Devel-opment Programme participants will access hands-on training in home furnishing, floral decoration and garment construction, literacy, numeracy and entrepreneurial skills along with self-awareness, health and hygiene courses.
The Clinic also boasts an Organisational Restructuring Division which will provide consultancy services in areas such as systems analyses, quality control, implementation, performance appraisals systems, needs assessment and market research.
The release said the Clinic will be manned by well-trained staff who will be advised by a six-member board. The board will collaborate with a cadre of locally and internationally trained instructors and assessors to deliver quality ‘business’ care.
