An East Coast family received an early Christmas gift on Monday when MoneyGram International Money Transfer and Habitat for Humanity presented their house to them on Monday.
A press release said the Lot 32 Area C, Richardstown, Lusignan house was presented to the Pabattie Kissoon/Cyril Trotman family. Pastor Ivan John blessed the home and a Bible was given to the family.
Chief Executive of the Neal and Massy Guyana Group of Companies, Deo Persaud, in his address at the brief ceremony, said MoneyGram is committed to its role as a good corporate citizen. He said the company has facilitated a number of other projects countrywide and in some communities it has posted school, road safety and other signs. The company is also working with the Ministry of Education on a ‘Smoke Free Zone’ sign programme at schools. The release said this was the second house that MoneyGram has sponsored.
Director at Habitat, Anthony Cummings, thanked the company for its generosity which he said allowed it to keep its mandate of ‘Building Faith, Hope and Community.’ Habitat for Humanity has built over 350 houses in Guyana since it was registered in 1995.
