An armed bandit got more than he bargained for when the schoo teacher he attempted to rob at a city hotel on Monday night snatched his gun out of his hand. He fled the scene empty handed and unarmed.
Police, in a press release issued on Tuesday, did not name the teacher and despite repeated efforts, Stabroek News was unable to make contact with him.
The release said that around 19:10 hrs on Monday, a man armed with a firearm attempted to rob a teacher who was in the lobby of a city hotel.
The teacher managed to snatch the firearm from the bandit who fled the scene.
The unlicenced .32 Taurus pistol with eight matching rounds was later handed over to the police.
