The Kennard Memorial Turf Club has once again come to the fore front of local horse racing with an organized Boxing Day meet at the club’s track, Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne, Berbice.
Three feature races are listed on the seven race card programme with Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) through its El Dorado brand of rums, Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited and the Neal and Massey Group of Companies taking up the responsibilities of sponsoring these features.
DDL will take care of the C and Lower Class race which is listed at number six and will run over a distance of 9 furlongs with Sequin, Delmur Gold, Trini 2 de bone and Too Hard being the favourites. Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited sponsored event is listed at number three and will go for a distance of 6 furlongs for two year old open. Expected to compete for the top prize of $150,000 are Showing Up who sprung a surprise on its competitors the last time a meet was held at the venue, Sasha, her stable mate The Gap and Bad News.
The other featured event will be the Neal and Massey sponsored 9 furlongs race for three year old horses born and bred in Guyana and the West Indies, carrying a top prize of $175,000. Little Pani can expect some tough opposition from Sir Balajee and Great Memories for this one.

As is customary, a fee of $1,000 will be charged for all late entries.
