Dear Editor,
I refer to a letter captioned “That slogan contest-something sounds fishy” (GC 07.12.7) by Delmira James.
I welcome the writer’s concern for I made some contribution towards the competition and though I have nothing personal against George Gomes, it just wasn’t good news for a member of the public to have brought the information to the public.
It definitely would have been a decent decision by management of Stabroek News to make mention that the selected second place finisher was a past employee.
I was informed from my investigations that the person in question no longer works for the entity.
Out of curiosity, can Stabroek News make public the names of the panel of judges?
Yours faithfully,
T. Pemberton
Editor’s note
Only current employees were ineligible to participate according to the published rules. The judges for the contest were Mr Al Creighton, Ms Julia Johnson and Mr Denis Chabrol.
