Not one, not two but three Santas were in the house as the Irene Madray Recreational, Arts and Resource Centre in Cane Grove hosted a party for over 500 children in the area on Sunday.
According to a press release from the organisation, the pouring rain did not stop the celebration which proceeded amid “toys galore, ice-cream, eatables, drinks and Bollywood styled entertainment”. The Christmas party was the third held since the completion of the centre in 2006. Currently the centre is open six days a week with two staff and several volunteers. Since the opening, the centre has had over 100 children ranging in age from 4 to 13.
The party was sponsored by the overseas-based Madray family, with assistance from Freddy and Sandra Shivdat, Mark and Sonia Cannastraci, Bakewell, Guyana Beverages Incorporated, Ravina International, Rent-a-tent and Heidi and Neil.
The centre fulfils a need for reading, writing, recreation and information technology.
