A 23-year-old woman, who allegedly stabbed her ex-husband to death during a scuffle, was remanded to prison when she appeared at the George-town Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Aliah Boyer also known as Stanwayka Boyer of Lot 19 Yarrowkabra, Linden-Soesdyke Highway was not required to plead to the capital offence of murder and was remanded to prison by Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle.
It is alleged that last Sunday at Yarrowkabra, she murdered Michael Glasgow. Reports are that on that date, Glasgow, a labourer, went to Boyer’s home. The couple had recently ended their common-law relationship. Police in a release had stated that investigations revealed that while Glasgow was there, an argument ensued between the two and he was stabbed in the chest. He later succumbed and Boyer was arrested and charged.
Presenting a calm demeanour at first, Boyer burst into tears after the charge was read to her by the magistrate. She denied stabbing Glasgow and said that they had shared a relationship for some time before separating. She said that on the date he had gone to visit her and an argument arose and Glasgow picked up a knife after she asked him to leave the yard. She said that they had a scuffle and “he get bore”. She stated that she didn’t stab him and “I just see he bend over”.
After listening to her, the magistrate remanded her and transferred the matter to the Providence Magistrate’s Court for January 11.
