Dear Editor,
My interest was caught by the title of Evadnie Benfield’s letter: “The entire world is moving in the metric direction, Guyana needs to catch up” (SN 20th December, 2007). I remember my father recalling to me that the need for Guyana to switch to metric was touted since his days in school.
Even several years back, I recall the popular phrase “Swing to metric”. No drastic changes since; we’re still swinging. That must be one really lengthy rope. I wonder how long it is. Yards or metres?
