The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) said Guyanese should work to build a legacy of love and respect for each other so that every citizen can contribute to making the country a better place.
In its Christmas Day message, the party said, the message of Christmas is one of joy and hope and urged all Guyanese to enjoy themselves during the holidays.
Reflecting on the past year, the PPP said it was full of achievements and challenges, adding that the country advanced in an international environment, “that is not only complicated but also unfavourable to developing countries in general”.
Among the successes, the party made mention of Guyana hosting Cricket World Cup matches and the Berbice bridge project. It said too that the education and health sectors saw improvements.
But there are challenges to overcome in the New Year the PPP noted such as rising oil prices and increase in food prices. However, the party expressed confidence that Guyanese will be able to successfully overcome the new issues that have arisen.
