President Bharrat Jagdeo said citizens can learn lessons of humility and faith from the Christmas story and it is with this in mind that he extends greetings to the nation.
According to the Government Information Agency, Jagdeo said he was happy to note that the Guyanese Christmas celebrations illustrate the country’s motto. “Christmas in Guyana has become known for its blend of a true Guyanese culture mix in the food we eat, the music we listen to, and the love and unity shared at this time of year.” Jagdeo said he is hopeful that the warmth and unity on display during the season will continue to flourish into the New Year.
The President also lauded persons who have been charitable to “those less fortunate among us.” He congratulated those persons for their kindness and urges citizens to cooperate to ensure a better life for all. Meanwhile, Jagdeo welcomed all visitors including overseas-based Guyanese, who are here to share in a Guyanese Christmas.
