The Kennard Memorial Turf Club will come alive tomorrow when the Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) through its El Dorado Rum sponsored ‘Day at the Races’ takes place.
According to the club’s honorary president, former chancellor of the judiciary Cecil Kennard, action is expected to be at fever pitch during the day.
“The last time we held a meet in August, the action was great and lots more is expected for this one. We have lots of horses on show for this meet and taking into consideration DDL through its El Dorado brand rum input, of which I am exceedingly grateful, fever pitch action can be anticipated,” Kennard stated.
El Dorado’s brand manager, Dexter Seaton, had earlier told Stabroek Sport that DDL was excited to be in partnership with the management of Kennard Memorial Turf Club once again.
“It is always a pleasure to work along with the management of any organization, but we at DDL El Dorado find it quite comfortable to work along with this elite group and would have no hesitation to continue this partnership in the future,” Seaton further stated.
Expected to be on show are Sasha and The Gap riding out of the Naljit Stables who were upset by Showing Up at the last meet and will be looking to exact revenge in the two-year-old Open.
But they will have to watch Bad News, Fiesta and Bounty Flyer who are all known for springing surprises on the day.
The feature race of the day will pit Trini to de Bone against Sequin, Spin and Squeeze, Delmur Gold and Go Geronimo for the $175,000.00 first prize sponsored by DDL.
Other horses on show during the day’s seven-race programme are: Little Pani, Sir Balajee and Great Memories who will be competing for the first prize in the fifth race.
The action is expected to jockey off from 1300h.
