A 24-year-old man was yesterday charged with rape and was remanded to prison by Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle.
Godfrey Haywood called `Lil man’ of Nineteenth Street, Diamond, East Bank Demerara was not required to plead to the charge when it was read to him in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
He allegedly committed the act on a 22-year-old woman on December 20.
Police prosecutor Denise Griffith objected to bail. She said that the complainant is still traumatized because Haywood reportedly jumped through her window to gain entry to her home and placed a scissors to her neck. He then committed the act, she said.
Haywood was unrepresented and the case has been adjourned to February 11.
