Bandits early yesterday morning robbed a Banks DIH employee of an undisclosed sum of money in nine bags, proceeds of sales of the company’s products at the Beenie Man show that was held at the National Park.
A release from the police yesterday said the robbery occurred at around 4:40 am and was committed on the company’s manager, Leonard D’Abreu, at the corner of D’Urban and Hardina streets in the vicinity of one of the company’s outlets.
According to the release, four men armed with handguns attacked D’Abreu, who was in the company of his wife, also a Banks DIH employee, while they were on their way to lodge an undisclosed sum of cash which was the proceeds of sales from bars operated at the show. The release said that on arrival at the corner of D’Urban and Hardina in their vehicle, the four men drove up in a grey AT 192 Toyota Carina motor car, held them at gunpoint and took away the nine bags as well as a licensed .32 revolver and $60,000 cash from D’Abreu and escaped.
