Operations of scrap iron dealer are seriously affecting villagers

Dear Editor,

While the government and the merchants are the beneficiaries from the sale of scrap iron, other citizens face a state of horror daily.

It is clear the iron exporters conduct their usual daily lives in upscale neighbourhoods, which are rodent and vermin free, but often, the villages where they choose to transact their lucrative businesses are transformed into a disgusting state with rats in homes, the destruction of lawns and the consequent devaluation of properties, and worst of all, the disruption of electricity and telephone sevices whenever the container trucks traverse the old road to transport the treasures.

Why should humble residents be plagued with this torture from the business community; while their coffers are filled, our basic need for communication is snatched away from us.

The phone service at Eccles/Ramsburg has been disrupted by a scrap iron exporter in Eccles (address given). Any complaints are greeted with hostility. I ask the village council to take action against this dealer and GT&T to restore the service.

Yours faithfully,
