The accelerated promotion of Guyana’s nature-based tourism product is the focus of the recently released 2008 issue of Explore Guyana, the country’s official Tourist Guide.
The new full-colour publication which forms part of the country’s efforts to promote Guyana as a unique Caribbean tourism destination features the attractions of the Kaietur Falls and details the range of nature-based experiences to be derived from the diverse settings of Guyana’s hinterland. The new issue of Explore Guyana also seeks to popularise the attractions of Guyana’s mountains with features on Roraima and Ayanganna.
With the creeks along the Soesdyke-Linden Highway providing an additional tourist option the 2008 edition of Explore Guyana examines the attractions of the waterways on the route between Georgetown and Linden. “Outings” at creeks along the highway have become one of the more popular week end pastimes of locals and in recent years there has been evidence of efforts to provide additional amenities at these facilities in order to attract visitors to the country.
The timing of the new issue of Explore Guyana is seen as an initiative by the Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana (THAG) the publishers of Explore Guyana to accelerate the marketing of the country’s tourism product ahead of the August 2008 Caribbean Festival of Arts (CARIFESTA).
