An Essequibo youth who went bathing at a creek in the company of a relative died yesterday after hitting his head on a boat during a dive.
Dead is Rishi Williams, 13, of Upper Bonasika Creek, Essequibo River. Williams went to the creek with a relative to bathe around 7.50 am and while attempting to dive in, he reportedly struck a boat that was in the water and went under.
An alarm was raised and Williams’s body was later discovered in the creek, according to police. The body is at the West Demerara Regional Hospital waiting a post-mortem examination. Investigations are continuing.
