Dear Editor,
In 1996 I purchased a few house lots and transport was advertised and passed with no objection. I became transport owner in 1996.While I was in the USA someone squatted on my land and claimed prescriptive title in the year 1998. This matter is still in court.
The law in Guyana is that before you claim prescriptive title for someone’s land you must live on the land for over 12 years. I had only owned the land for two years in 1998 so how can such a claim be filed? Will the law protect me and other investors?
Yours faithfully,
Pusawdattie Bhola
