Guyana’s Sonia Noel has been named the official designer of the third Annual Barbados Music Awards, deemed the musical event of the year on the island and set for January 27.
With a star-studded cast of Caribbean and Barbadian artistes, the Sir Garfield Sobers Gymnasium will play host to over 4,000 patrons who are eager to find out the 2008 BMA recipients. But before the on-stage presentation starts, the highly anticipated red carpet arrival acts as an appetizer.
Noel again has the distinction of outfitting government officials, celebrities, models, entertainers and other Caribbean personalities, anticipating taking a strut on the carpet. Last year, the designer had outfitted some 18 celebrities and numerous other patrons.
A press release from the designer’s creative consultant quoted her as saying, “I am very humbled and honoured to be named for a second year. I have been working very hard for a number of years and now I am definitely reaping the benefits.”
She also went onto say that she believes that the Barbados Music Awards play a very important role in the fashion community because it is only at that event that designers get to express their creativity and be seen outfitting many different sizes and persons with different personalities.
So when the carpet is rolled out, the Guyanese flag will once again be flying high as Bartician Sonia Noel leads the designing pack at the Barbados Music Awards.
